Happy Tuesday and Christmas in the City Part 2

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are having a great week!

My cold is all finished now so I just have a little bit of leftover throat tickle and congestion - thank goodness it was quick and almost painless because I just don't have time to spend sick in bed!

On Friday night we had our girls night and it was a huge success! 23 of us went to the wine bar and the restaurant next door brought over lots of pizza, chips, bruschetta and nachos for us! We all had drinkies and nibbles and then got on with the gift exchange! Since we play Dirty Santa it was lots of fun watching the opened presents being fought over! One of my besties really wanted to get the pottery bowl so I told her to just keep taking whatever I got and I would steal the bowl and even if I ended up with it she could have it. In the end she got her bowl and owes me undying devotion! My leopard print Santa hat was a bit hit too! I cant wait to wear it to the party next year!

This weekend we actually relaxed a lot - we watched movies, hung out on the couch and did as little as possible! By Sunday night I was getting bored so I wrapped almost all of the presents so they are ready for Christmas!

Yesterday I went to Ikea with one of my besties and we stopped at Costco on the way home. Let me warn you now...you so do not want to be anywhere near a parking lot between now and December 27th. I saw such ugliness it made me question my faith in humanity! If you do need to go shopping please be careful and most of all please be patient - if someone is backing out just give them 4 seconds and you can be on your merry way! Hitting them will only ruin your day! Yes the concept of the polite Canadian is a myth. In fact Canadians have known that for a long time and visit the US a lot because Americans are way more polite that Canadians in general - at least the ones around here!

Today I went to lunch with another bestie - I seem to have trouble committing to one best friend! But I am very fortunate and have several very good friends! We went to the little wine bar after finding the tea room closed for Christmas and the funky bar closed because of a number of brawls last night. The wine bar has limited food but today they had the most delicious and rich roasted red pepper soup! We had ham and Swiss paninis with it and lots of gossip to wash it all down!

Tonight I am going to finish wrapping presents and make sure we have everything we need no matter how we spend Christmas day - we could be going to my inlaws orrrrr we could be snowed in. I am secretly slightly hoping for snowed in. It would be so nice to spend a day alone just with the Suburban Prince and our Little Prince with no where we need to go and nothing we need to do.

I had so many photos of our time in the city I had to split them into a few posts. I have learned I can pack a lot into a couple of days! Here are some from The Eaton Centre in Toronto!

I started the day with a cocktail! This one is called a Gummy Bear and it comes with a handful of vodka soaked gummy bears! It certainly made dealing with the crowds a lot easier! We continued the annual tradition of meeting a guy the Suburban Prince grew up with for lunch in the city at Christmas - he works downtown so he always books a couple of hours to meet us and catch up!

Santa's sleigh hangs from the ceiling!

These adorable reindeer pull Santa's sleigh!

The huge Christmas tree in the middle of the mall - it was so hard to get a photo that really shows the majesty of it!

20,000 Swarovski crystals sparkle like diamonds on the Christmas tree!

For $20.00 you can get a little bag of cedar sprigs! Or come to my house and get a crate of them for free!

The best Santa ever!

I picked these up at William Sonoma - Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Pumpkin Pie Mold, Pie Crust Cutters (I think these could work for gingerbread too!) and Luster Pearls for snowflake cookies we will be making for a friend's 40th birthday party!

Have a fabulous day!

Great pictures!! I'm glad your party was a success!! I couldn't agree more with you about how important it is to be polite during the holidays. I get so disheartened by the rudeness people display during this time of year. It's almost as though everyone's forgotten the yuletide cheer!

Glad your're feeling better!

I couldn't agree with you more on the parking lots and on having nowhere to go and nothing to do! This time of year, I stay snowed in with the kids. It's been so relaxing!!

I love the gummy bear martini!! :) I also hit WS and picked up the hot cocoa for son2. What is with the false bottom on the pearl dragees? You will love the pie crust cutters. Remember, pics of your cookies. :)

It sounds like you are having a wonderful Christmas season! Fun fun fun! It also seems like people are acting like they have no manners whatsoever where you live as well as where I live! All the best to you for Christmas!

That cocktail looks divine! My roommates and I would soak gummy bears in vodka in college for parties. Always a big hit!

Glad you are feeling better. And I agree, the craziness of the holiday season parking lot is a lot to bear!
