Luxe Box Giveaway!
As you may have gathered from previous posts, I am completely in love with the Luxe Box sample service! Each month I get a beautiful box of great samples of face, hair, body products as well as makeup and perfumes. I have found new perfumes to love, received products I already use and love and have acquired little treats I can give my friends...I know Hermes Scarf Friend loves when I show up with a handful of perfumes for her to try!
Something I love about Luxe Box is the ability to send it as a gift. This is perfect for Bloggers who have Canadian friends! Anyone can buy a month or two, or three or however many you like and have them sent to someone in Canada.
Luxe Box has been really amazing to bloggers as well, last month I got a bonus box for being a blogger and writing about the service! Oh and this month...Luxe Box has offered me a box to give away! I know this isn't the norm but this giveaway is for Canadian addresses but you may enter if you are American and should you win, you can have the Luxe Box sent to a Canadian friend - talk about paying it forward!

How will I survive?
Happy Monday! I am writing this post on Sunday because at this moment I have no power at all at my house. No internet, no puter, no blow dryer, no phone, no tv, no kettle, no toaster oven, no laundry, no hoover...nothing. Everything I do depends on electricity! So I am spending today (Sunday) getting everything done to make Monday tolerable. The Suburban Prince told me to tell you not to worry that I havnt been on twitter, facebook and email all day...there's no need to call the FBI or anything.
If the situation is dire I might pop out to McDs or Sbux to use their wifi for an hour (or 4). I will miss you all but hopefully I will be back online on Monday night! And back to work! All in all it's the next step in the renovations in the basement...the electrician we hire in March (!!!) never finished the job and put us months behind...I thought we would at least have drywall by now! Sooooo I can suffer for the cause for one day.
I hope you had a faboo weekend! On Friday I went to see Hairspray with Hermes Scarf Friend - she got us comp tickets from work so we got to see it for free! We had 4th row seats and it was nice to be so close. After the show there was a cocktail reception - we got to mingle with the cast and rub elbows with some of the a-list of town.
On Saturday we went to a 'party' at the home of a guy the Suburban Prince grew up with. It turns out he lives 15 minutes from us way out in the country. It was a bit of a surprise to see there were only about 8 adults and maybe 25 teenagers...I didnt realize it was meant to be a kids' party. We stayed for a couple of hours and then headed home. The Suburban Prince said it was nice to see some of the guys he knew in school and hasnt seen for 20 years or so but I was bored out of my mind. Here's a question for you...have you ever been invited to a party you had to bring your own chairs, booze and a dish for the food table? What do we think of this? Is this ok when it's a group of people who have known each other for years and get together a lot? How about when it's the first time you have been invited to someone's house?
On Sunday I did some errands and got caught up on emails then spent an hour in the pool. It was a bit overcast so we kept our swimming short and got on with productive things.
The winner of my personalized ribbon giveaway is ... Little Miss Cant Be Wrong! Wahoo! Congratulations! Please contact me so we can discuss your ribbon :O) Everyone else...thank you so much for entering! Please visit Royal Ribbons to see what my amazing customers have had designed for them - I cant wait to make ribbon for you!
Have a fabulous day!

Pink Champagne Truffles and a giveaway!
The Happy Baker has been hard at work in her kitchen coming up with all sorts of yummy treats! Her recent newsletter incuded these very yummy pink champagne truffles and I loved making them...and licking the bowl! To make them in time for Valentine's day you will need....
3/4 Cup heavy cream
3 Tbsp softened butter
300 Grams chopped dark chocolate
1/4 Cup pink champagne
Cocoa for rolling
Heat cream in a small heavy saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles form around edges. Add butter, stir until melted.
Place chopped chocolate in a bowl, pour heated cream over top. Stir until melted. Stir in champagne.
Pour chocolate in a shallow dish. Cover with plastic wrap. Place dish in fridge for about 30 minutes to set. Using a melon baller make small balls of chocolate. Place on a lined cookie sheet and set in fridge for another 30 minutes.
Dip your hands in cocoa. Roll truffles to smooth out texture and then roll in cocoa. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
Dont they look delicious? I can assure you they are! The Happy Baker gave me a sneak peek at the recipe so I made them at Christmas for myself and High Heeled Life...she ate a few before going on her trip and said when she came back 2 weeks later the truffles were just as smooth and creamy as they were when I gave them to her!
The Happy Baker is also hosting a fun Valentine's day giveaway! Lots of adorable baking supplies are up for grabs including a copy of her book! Enter the Happy Baker's Valentine's Day giveaway!
Have a fabulous day!

Kiel James Patrick - The perfect preppy accessory!
In case you have never heard of him (which would shock me as Kiel seems to be everywhere these days!), Kiel James Patrick has the most super duper bracelets in all sorts of colours and patterns, all of them uber preppy! Natch! He was kind enough to send me a couple to review - such a tough job I have! They arrived last week and I have had the chance to try them out, judge the quality and shmooze a little with their creator.
From The KJP Website...
The concept for the Kiel James Patrick brand, and the original KJP bracelets, began when I was in prep school. I used to shop in antique and vintage clothing stores, and rummage through friends' attics, always looking for classic-styled clothing from an older era that was long forgotten.
By combining these classic patterns and fabrics, I began creating small, detailed fashion accessories, which I would wear myself. My goal was to make my own fashion statement, and allow myself to feel a bit like an individual during my high school years.
Everything I design is handcrafted in the United States. Other designers ship off their designs to various countries to save a few bucks, and wind up selling low-quality or inferior and generic-looking products.
The Kiel James Patrick signature brass buttons, for example, are made down the street at Urschell Tool, a company that specializes in belt buckles and military pins. Meanwhile, our handcrafted leatherwork is all done a few miles from the KJP offices, at Bren Corporation in Johnston, Rhode Island.
Our fabrics are all purchased locally, from Rhode Island and Boston area businesses, and the nautical rope we use comes from T.W. Evan in Cranston, Rhode Island. Even our production is based in my home state of Rhode Island.
Our five-room design studio, which is also the KJP headquarters, is in Rhode Island, just a few miles from where I grew up. As we expand our product lines and grow the Kiel James Patrick brand, I will continue supporting local businesses, and providing new jobs to the people from my community.
This is the Breshex Louie pattern in size small on my teensie little wrist
Kiel has come out with a new collection for Fall 2010 including the all new Skinny Fit bracelets! They are 7/8" instead of 1.25" that the original designs still come in. This is such a genius move! Wearing the thicker bracelets all summer is easy when we are wearing short sleeves all the time but I had actually packed away my original KJP bracelet as I know it would be a bit too thick under sweaters. Now we have an excuse to buy them for Autumn and Winter too!
The photo above is a Skinny Fit in Breshexx Louis and as you can see it would be perfect with every LLBean sweater in your closet! Kiel told me I am the only person to ever notice the difference in the colour patterns - mine has pink in it, the one shown on the KJP website has mostly beige stripes on it - which wouldn't surprise anyone who knows me well...I will pick out the tiniest detail! Keil explained the pattern repeat is wider than the length of the bracelet plus it is cut on the bias which means each one will be slightly different. I love that! Kiel is all about the details - I mean just look at the reverse side - every bracelet has quality fabrics on the front and the back.
Kiel also sent me a Skinny Fit bracelet in Druxbury Fulton which is just the perfect Autumn accessory! I havn't had the chance to wear it out yet but I did try it on and love it and it goes with all of my Autumn clothes! As with all KJP products it has been made with top quality materials and is made to last. I am sure I will be 70, buying the next Lisa Birnbach book while wearing a KJP bracelet, embroidered cords and a turtleneck.
KJP isn't just about bracelets...there are belts and headbands made in the same style with the same quality!
Kiel isn't alone in his quest to adorn the wrists, heads and waists of every preppy in the world...Sarah and Hannah are also a part of the business! From Kiel...
Hannah is our favorite intern ever. Sarah aids me in adding feminine touches to the designs as my designs sometime tend to be a little too masculine. Sarah also picks wardrobe for marketing and dressing our help for any events we are having.
As if that isn't enough...here are some more reasons to love KJP!
- Free shipping on all domestic orders! This includes Canada!
- Kiel is good friends with his iron - he even showed me one of his freshly ironed t-shirts!
- The man can sew!
- He started with an idea...earned the money to back it and made a success of it!
- He answers all of his emails in a timely fashion - I love this!
- KJP customer service is outstanding!
I hope you didn't think we wouldn't be doing a giveaway as well!
Kiel has offered 2...yes 2 of his bracelets for you to win!
There are lots of ways to earn entries - do them all or as many as you feel like!

Friday Fun!
I am a guest blogger today over at Southern Living Preppy Style! Please pop over there to see the yummy recipe I will be making this weekend!
Also...please check out the Starbucks and Yankee Candle giveaway over at It's The World I Know!
I have been so busy this week I havn't had time for my random thoughts - or any thoughts at all to be honest!
My week has been one toddler tantrum after another! I want to know who this child is and when he is sending back the sweet little boy I have had until now! HHL has met him a few weeks ago - fortunately before Beelzebub took over - and she will attest to his sweetness and easy-going nature. I want that child back.
In my 'free time' I have been cleaning out my craft room and getting it to a functioning state and not just a place to dump things we need to hide when company is coming. I am so happy with the progress I have made and am now at the sort-through-every-box phase - photos coming soon!
Please dont miss my Back to School Giveaway! The winner will be drawn on Monday!
I have 5 or 6 events coming up in the next few weeks so life is getting back to the way I like it! Summer is way too boring and quiet for a suburban socialite like me! I can't wait to share these fun events, great outfits and fundraising activities!
Have a fabulous day!

My very own cafe!
A few weeks ago Fifi Flowers held a contest and I won! YAY ME!
The prize was my choice of one of her paintings - I loved this one the most!
Fifi hand panted it for me with my name (hidden here to protect the guilty) and it is even more beautiful in person!
I am going to have it professionally framed and hung in my kitchen.
Please visit Fifi to see all of her painting - she will do custom work and you can have any painting turned into a set of notecards (which I have also done as a gift for a friend and they were TDF!)
Thank you Fifi!!
Have a fabulous day!
