Easter Recap

On Easter weekend we had our parents over for lunch and to celebrate the Little Prince's 3rd birthday.  There were lots of preparations leading up to the Easter Bunny visiting and birthday celebrations!

The Little Prince wanted to help decorate!

The Suburban Prince gave me a Coronation Street mug with a chocolate egg in it!  Coronation Street is the world's longest running soap opera and it airs 5 times a week in the UK.  It airs here almost a year behind!

The Easter Bunny left a yummy chocolate
bunny for the Suburban Prince!

I was selling flowers last week for the Parkinson's
society so I bought lots for the table!

A little chocolate chick nestled in a napkin tucked in a wine glass.

The Easter Bunny left a basket for the Little Prince!

Lots of fun little toys!

This has provided many hours of fun...
two mitts with velcro and a stuffed bunny!

The parting gift for our guests!
Bunny Noses!

The Little Prince had a great time hunting for eggs in the front yard and loved opening them all to find they were filled with bunny crackers and bunny gummies!  His favourite!  How did the Easter Bunny know?

He loved his birthday cupcakes and made us sing Happy Birthday to him twice!  One afternoon this week I heard him in his bed singing 'Happy Birthday to meeeeeeeee'.

Hoppy Easter!

Hoppy Easter!

Thank you for all of the wonderful birthday wishes and messages for the Little Prince...I know he will love reading them for years to come!  It means so much to me that so many of you took the time to leave him a birthday comment!

The winner of my Annie's Bunnies giveaway is....High Heeled Life!  Congratulations!  Dont worry about sending me your address...I know where you live!

It has been a crazy whirlwind for the last week or so....

- On Monday I had another run-in with the 'contractor' and the Suburban Prince was ready to fire him but I just want the basement done and over with!  On Tuesday he went down to the 'contractor's' house and tore a strip off him and made sure he understood a few hard truths.  He also told him I was the one who said not to fire him so maybe now he will watch his mouth and not bite the hand that feeds him!

- Since housekeeper decided to take Friday off (ummm how is it *I* didnt get the day off and in fact, my workload tripled?)  I have spent all week doing the housework myself and getting everything ready for our parents coming over today for lunch.  Since I hadnt had the living room cleaned since Christmas because of the renovation, it was a big job!  I had to clean every single surface!  All while wearing a tiara.  Hmpfh.

- On Friday night Hermes Scarf Friend and I went to see Water For Elephants.  I dont normally enjoy seeing movies made from books I love but I was very happy with this one.  The visuals are beautiful and it stayed very close to the book.

- Yesterday we prepped all the food for today and last night we spent a few hours at the neighbours' house having a drink and nibblies and getting caught up now that they are home from winter in Florida.

This morning I am enjoying the peace and quiet before everyone wakes up and the chaos begins!  I have Billy Joel on my ipod and a fruit smoothie waiting for me.  I see the Easter Bunny has come to visit the Little Prince and I cant wait to see what he thinks!

We are doing the Little Prince's birthday celebrations today with cake and presents.  It's tough with his birthday being on Easter this year...I keep trying to separate the two events as I dont want him thinking he gets Easter eggs for his birthday every year!

I hope the Easter Bunny spoils you!

A simple 'Thank You' goes a long way Part 2 & Easter gifts!

Happy Wednesday!

The answer to yesterday's guessing game is...the 35 year old mother!

The 15 year old boy sent me a lovely email a few days after he got back from him trip to thank me "for thinking of him" and to let me know he appreciated the snack and had a great time on his holiday.  When I give him birthday/Easter/Christmas gifts he always hand writes a thank you note.   His mom is the Hermes scarf mom!  So yes, manners are taught by the parents as his mom is one of the classiest people I have ever met in my life!  For example, in the summer if we are going to be away for the day I leave our house key with her so she can bring her kids over to swim and every single time there is a thank you note on my kitchen table when I get home.  When her children were too young to write a full blown thank you note she would have them draw a picture, scribble their names on it and she would write on it 'Dear so-and-so, thank you for the whatever, I really like it a lot' and give them out.  See, even a 3 year old can send a thank you note!

The future is looking bright for this 15 year old boy - he currently has the library copy of Emily Post's book and has been asking me for ettiquette lessons.  He will go far in life!

As for the 35 year old unappreciative mother - unfortunately I can't avoid her as we both live in this same small town and I see her almost every day.  I am going to confirm with her secretary that she did in fact get the birthday gift...who knows, maybe it did fall behind a desk, but I doubt it.  The ironic twist is that when I was at the playground the other day I gave her little boy a cracker and she told him to say thank you to me!  One thing is for sure!  She wont be getting another gift from me!  In fact she has ticked off so many people she knows, I would be surprised if she ever gets another one ever!

Whew I feel so much better after getting that off my chest!  And in case anyone is keeping track, I wrote all of my thank you notes on Friday evening and mailed them on Monday morning.  You know with casting that first stone and all that.

Anyhooooooooo....on to more pleasant things!

Here is what I put together for my friends for Easter!

I started with lots of bags of Easter and Spring chocolates and candies!  I found adorable cello bags that look like Easter eggs and some green shred!

Everything in bowls and ready for the bags!  I ordered Easter tags from Pacokeco who does all of my invitations and co-ordinating paper products for parties!  If you ever need cute tags, stickers etc please visit her!  She is the sweetest person and does amazing custom work!

All filled and ready to be tied and tagged!

The finished product!  These will be delivered on Friday and Saturday to friends and grandparents!  The tags from Pacokeco are personalized!  Too cute!

Easter Cakes

Happy Monday!  Here are some adorable Easter cakes to inspire you!

I made the images small to keep the post small so please click on the photos to see them in full size.

This one cracks me up every time I look at it!

A simple carrot cake - always a classic!

Different coloured layers make for a fun surprise!

This is based on the zebra cakes that are all the rage!  Portion your batter and tint each one a different seasonal colour!

A can of Duncan Hines and some M&Ms is all you need!  Think of how much fun your kiddies will have making this!

Too cute!

This is so simple to make - a few candies and some shredded coconut!

Who wouldn't love to have this cake for any celebration!

Easter Ideas - Part 2

Happy Wednesday!

If you are having problems leaving comments on my posts please let me know (suburbanprincess at ymail dot com).  I got a message from another blogger saying there was something weird going on so it occurred to me the lack of comments lately might have something to do with a technical issue!

Today I am sharing some Easter seed packets you can print!

How nice it would be to give these to your friends so they can get a start on their gardens!  These would make wonderful co-worker gifts as well as favours for your Easter dinner guests!  I love giving this sort of thing to my friends who are diabetic or on diets - that way they aren't left out when you are giving out chocolate eggs and bunnies!

Carrot seeds would be perfect!

All of these printables are from Grandma George!
