Friday's Random Thoughts....Kinda

Happy Friday!

I have been sick all week so I have only had two thoughts...

- Oh gawd I'm sick!!

- Oh gawd I'm sick and have to pull myself together for the Sophie Kinsella signing on Friday evening!

Sorry I am not more creative today but all of my energy has gone into surviving and getting myself into Toronto tonight.

I lieu of my FRTs I am giving you such a dose of cuteness I know you will be coming back to it over and over and over.  In fact...just bookmark this page and come back to it anytime you are feeling down or having a bad day...

This is Dolce and he is the little furbaby of High Heeled Life.  Is he spoiled?  Hm.  Well...let's just say I wouldn't mind if HHL adopted me based on how she spoils this little child dog.  HHL is hosting a Breakfast at Tiffany's sleep mask giveaway so hop over there and enter!

Zoo baby updates!

As a follow up to this post about a recent visit to the zoo...

The ostrich eggs have hatched!  I was a bit sad to see there were only two little babies considering how many eggs the mother was sitting on but look at how cute they are!   They were quite hard to spot as they blend in with the earth but this little one got up and came over to the fence for a photo op.

I was looking at the ducks and thought this one looked awfully fat - then she stood up and all of these little ducklings came scurrying out from under her!  They went for a little swim and a a bite to eat then back for more cuddles.

Llama Glama!!!  Need I say more?!

The View From Here!

I was driving home one afternoon and saw a big yellow field!  Of course I had to stop and investigate...

This is a farm on the road between towns...

...with a field full of sunflowers!!  I drove past them this week and the heads are all bowing, heavy with seeds!

I have grown sunflowers in the past and a great way to use the heads is to stack them then run heavy string like jute through them (just like adding beads to a string) then hang them up around your backyard or garden.  All winter long the birds will have seeds they can peck at and in the spring just toss the empty heads in your compost bin.

A Wednesday Adventure!

We are taking the Little Prince to the zoo this morning!

First stop - Starbucks for a grande, non-fat, extra coffee, caramel frappuccino, no-whip then maybe a teensie little peek in Michaels then we will wander the zoo for an hour.

We will be going to my inlaws house then lunch at a wheat-free, gluten-free restaurant - I saw the website and the menu looks very nice so I am excited to try it!  It is at the top of the list for the 50th anniversary party so we are sneaky and using this chance to try the food and make our final decision.

Going to the zoozoozoo how about youyouyou!

Last week we took the Little Prince to the zoo about an hour north of us.  It is a very small zoo, perfect for a 2 year old and parents who have a lot to do like stop at Costco and get everyone home before nap time.  This zoo is a lot of fun because they have feedings scheduled every day for the public - last year we saw the otters being fed and it was a riot!  We held the Little Prince up to the window and the otter kept coming and standing up right in front of him!

The heat wave had broken so the animals were all out and showing off!

A bobcat maybe?  I should've paid more attention to the signs!

The Little Prince kept saying ROAR to these guys!

Llamas hang out right by the highway!

Cute little donkeys!

This is a camel - 2 humps!

This is a dromedary - 1 hump.
When you see people riding camels they are actually riding dromedaries.

An ostrich with her dozen eggs.
She was kind enough to stand up for me so I could get a nice photo!

Cheeky little monkeys!

And then my camera battery died.  Hmpfh.  We will be going again soon so I will get photos of the rest of the animals...like the meercats!

Have a fabulous day!

PS....I realise my blog background has been having a bit of a personality disorder - the site I get my backgrounds from was having problems so I needed to change looks which caused coding issues etc...I really wanted the beach background for the summer so I am happy it's back!

PPS...There are some fun giveaways on my sidebar - have a look and tell them I sent you!

Cheeky Little Chipmunk!

Please enter my Flower Power giveaway!

Yesterday we were at my in-laws' house enjoying the nice weather in the backyard.  My MIL puts seeds out for a little chipmunk who skitters about all day long!

MIL figures if she puts seeds out the critters will stay out of the lettuce!

Besides the chipmunk...what an ingenious way to grow lettuce!
They have been eating it for about a month now just cutting what they need each day!

How the conversation went....

Suburban Prince: I had a great idea! Since all of the hanging baskets are empty I am going to hang one right outside the back door and fill it with peanuts so you and the Little Prince can watch the blue jays when they come to get the peanuts!!

Suburban Princess: Awww cute! But wont the squirrels take all of the peanuts?

Suburban Prince: Nooooo (imagine him saying this like 'Dont be rediculous!!') I will hang it from the middle of the canopy frame - there is no way a squirrel will be able to get into it!

Suburban Princess: Hmmm...ok.

PandaCam!

I found this the other day and it is just so sweet! The San Diego Zoo has a new addition! A baby panda! They have the mother panda in an den with her little cub and they have installed a couple of cameras with live feed to the internet above them. The feed runs 24 hours a day and you can watch them sleeping, cuddling, the mother washing the cub and all sorts of delightfully cute activities!

The Little Prince loves to sit in my lap and watch the baby panda - this would be a great site to show your little ones because when else would we have the chance to watch a baby panda any time we want!
