November

Happy November!   It has been a crazy three months and the policing vote was on Tuesday night....all of my hard work paid off!  One of the coucillors flipped his vote, saying he sees the will of the people and now we will get to keep our local police force!  Wahoo!  I am happy and exhausted and in dire need of a break - I am looking forward to getting back to business and friends and all the things I had to do without for all this time.

First up is a trip to the mall to find shoes to go with this dress...

...I'm not sure if I should go with navy shoes or stick with neutral ones...tho it wont do any harm to have a pair of navy pumps in my closet even if I don't wear them with this.

See how quickly my mind reverted right back to worrying about the most simple things? 36 hours out of politics and right back to my 1% problems!

Have a fabulous day!

Outfit of the day

Hermes Scarf Friend was at meetings in the city on the same day she was to introduce a guest speaker at our Rotary meeting.  She was worried she might be stuck in traffic and wouldn't make it back to town in time so she gave me a type written introduction and instructions to take her place at the head table with her guest speaker.

Update:  HSF got there in time so I got away with cords and a sweater...I saved this outfit for our Christmas party tonight!

Normally I would wear something casual to Rotary...critters and a sweater, dressier jeans and a cute top.  But, sitting at the head table means everyone will be staring at me all night and I prefer to wear something nice to them to look at when I am front and center.

The dress is not denim...it's chambray, whatever that is.  It's not my usual sort of thing but I bought it on a whim and have been determined to work it into my outfits.  Not wanting anyone to confuse me with a farm girl I opted to wear a Dior scarf with it (yes, I realize that's not a Dior scarf we are looking at but the colours are very similar to the Dior I have) along with navy blue tights, black patent pumps and a navy blue purse.  Do I really need to say I also wore pearls?  A spritz of my usual perfume?  The one that all the men like by the way.  Forget all of your expensive designer hoity toity bottles of celebrity endorsed perfumes....I've had more compliments on my $20.00 Philosophy elixir than any other I have ever worn.

Have a fabulous day!

What a weekend!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Mine was a perfect combination of quiet and busy!

On Friday night I went to the chocolate company grand opening party, had a couple of glasses of champagne, ate a couple of the last chocolates they had left (the seagulls must have arrived right at 7pm!), chatted with a few friends, met some new friends and then we made our way to the local wine bar for a birthday party!

I don't actually know the birthday girl but I am sure we have met a few times and I have met her husband a number of times at parties and events. There were a lot of people I know there so even tho I don't know the hosts very well I was surrounded by my friends! I commented to someone that I used to be getting ready to go out at 10pm and now I am happy to be home by then!

The Suburban Prince came home with tickets for a Toronto Maple Leafs game at the end of the month - strangely they are one of the worst teams yet it is impossible to get tickets to see them! Hopefully we can get a babysitter for that night...I am seeing dinner in the city in my future too!

On Saturday morning I decided to head out early to see what I could find at Old Navy. I drove 40 minute through the hills and dales of the countryside and managed to get the very last hot pink funnel neck coat in my size! Yay! Success! I also picked up the knit sweater dress Gigi posted on her blog, an orange sweater and a grey cardigan. Thanks Gigi!

I stopped at Starbucks on my way back to the big main road and got a peppermint mocha - it was nice but I am not head over heels for it. As I was driving home I was in sheer bliss! I got the clothes I wanted, a Starbucks in my hand, Mika on the stereo....ahhhh....OOPS! I drove about 10 minutes past the road I needed to get home! Ah well, it gave me some extra bliss time in the car. Moms know about this type of bliss....the one that you find when there isn't one single person within hearing range that needs a thing from you! No husband who cant find his socks, no kids who need snacks/diaper changes/attention, just a woman and her thoughts!

When I got home the Little Prince went for a nap and I got a few hours on the couch with The Real Housewives - more bliss! The rest of the weekend was relaxing but at the same time productive!

Today I am working on shrinking a tablecloth - the one I wanted didn't come in the right size so I bought one that is too big and I am going to measure and pin it so it can be made smaller to fit the table. I needed pins so I went to Walmart and did not make it past the 5 aisle of Christmas chocolates right at the front door! I came home with two bags of mint and two bags of Hugs Hershey's Kisses - I told you I have a serious chocolate problem! When I got home with everything (yes I did remember the pins!) I ate one Hug and put the rest with the secret stash!

I started knitting socks for myself. I used to knit socks all the time for my husband and dad and never got around to making any for myself so that is what I will be working on for the next while. I was so inspired by Grosgrain Garage and her projects I jumped right in and got back to the needles.

This week will also be a busy one so I am looking forward to more socializing! On Saturday I am going to cross the border to shop at Target and Khols! Yay!

How was your weekend?

Have a fabulous day!
