Life's a Beach!

'Every time we walk along a beach some ancient urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes and garments or scavenging among seaweed and whitened timbers like the homesick refugees of a long war.' ~ Loren Eiseley

Quite often through the summer we will go to the beach after dinner for a walk.  Every evening is different.  Different people, different sounds, events, smells and sights but the landscape is always the same.  I love walking through the neighbourhood - everyone is so friendly!  We will usually get a treat for the drive home so the Little Prince is learning the joys of a simple evening at the beach and the pure, unadulterated bliss of vanilla ice cream.

I have seen beaches all over the world, hot and cold, dipped my toe into several oceans, seen more kinds of sand than I could ever imagine, purchased beverages in countless languages, heard every type of music playing but there is always something comforting about going to 'your own' beach.  A simple blanket of sand on a vast body of water.

One of the entrances to the boardwalk.  It was quite a busy night with volleyball school starting but this end of the beach was nice and quiet.  One of the reasons I don't go to the beach during the day is it is just so busy.  It's mostly people from the city who come on the weekend and take over (a big issue between our local government and the local people) and during the week  it is swarming with teenagers.  No I don't want to spend the day with a gaggle of almost naked, nubile 16 year old girls.  Thanks very much.

I wonder who owns this boat!  The pic is blurry because I had it on super extra deluxe zoom as I was so far away at the time.

This house is for sale right now...600K I think.  It looks out over the water and comes with it's own private beach.  I didn't want to get too close with my camera in case they happened to be home and didn't like nosy types!

This house backs onto the beach and comes with it's own private beach.  It is right across from the house for sale.  In the bottom right corner is the public access path and hundreds of lily plants - I will come back when they are in bloom and photograph the difference!  The road right there is covered with sand!

I met this cute little guy on my walk - his name is Indie!

On the way back to the car we passed a nice little house on a corner.  The Little Prince found his daring side and climbed their steps.  I kept telling him to come along with us but nope...he climbed all the way up and started knocking on their door!  $hit!  They owners came to the door and had a good laugh at our pushy little boy (he comes by it honestly!).  Turns out they moved here from the city too so we chatted for a while before making our way home.

'In every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.' - Rachel Carson

Have a fabulous day!

PS...There is a marina at the other end of the beach - there are condos surrounding this marina and it is rumoured David Furnish's parents own one of the penthouses.  Should I even run into David or Elton I already have a couple of perfect ice breakers...Elton John and I have the same birthday and David and I grew up in the same place and I think we even went to the same high school (the same one Mike Myers went to!) so we are practically related!  I know if I meet them we will be fast friends!

What a beautiful walk... on this rainy day - your pictures were a ray of sunshine (even in early evening setting).

Something tells me you will be meeting Dave or Elton if not both! :) ...
