Yesterday's post led me to the next few posts so you might want to read it so you get the full effect.
I decided to write a list of important things I have learned or would like to have been told - hindsight is always 20/20! I broke the list into a few posts so the series is 3 or 4 days long. When I read over the list I realised so many of my points were based on relationships - I guess that makes sense as what would life be without them? I could've used this advice at 20 as well! And 25...30...
1. Women are powerful – it’s ok to use that power but don’t use it as a weapon
2. Pay in cash
3. Date a lot…a lot. You will need to get to know a lot of men before you really know the qualities you want and need in a man
4. Before you get married, find out if he would get up in the middle of the night with a crying baby or change a diaper
5. Learn a little bit about a lot of things
6. Travel. Travel alone at least once
7. Wait until after 30 to get married – just have lots of fun until then
8. Don’t take life so seriously
9. Don’t marry for love – don’t marry solely for love. There are so many other important things your marriage will need. Love is the icing on the cake
10. Its ok to have it all…its also ok to not want it all
11. If someone isn’t adding value to your life, let them go - fast
12. Be humble – in the end, no one has kept score
13. Social grace will always be more important than money
14. Date at least one ‘older man’
15. Be the kind of woman the kind of man you want, wants
Have a fabulous day!

I loved both posts and can't wait to see the rest of your list. xo xo
I need to go back to 14 again...I have not done many of those things on your list!
Oh well....
These are so great. And I agree with so much! Is it alright to tell these to my 14-year old when she gets that age too? :) I wonder if she'll want to listen to me then. Haha.
Your advice is very valid. Of course the challenging thing would be to actually get a 14 yr old to listen to an adult - LOL
oh i love this post!!! i am only 21 and i appreciate hearing your advice =)
#6 -- I have always wanted to travel alone once in my life but I am so scared to do it!
You know I love #7 :)
PErfect list!
Well, I did get married at 25 but we were so much more mature and I had dated gazillions of different men.
Because teens seem to be so much more promiscuous these days, I'd also like to add this:
16. Your body is your temple. Take care of it & never allow anyone to take anything from you that you don't want to give. You won't be ready for sex for a very long time, so don't give it away too soon. It's a precious thing.
;-)
Thank you for this list sweet friend, I love it all, particularly #10 - Its ok to have it all…its also ok to not want it all - I always told myself I wouldn't get married until 30...when I met my now hubby at 24 he said he couldn't wait until then! I know in my heart I made the right decision though :) xoxox
Yes did anyone tell us this, or did we think we knew it all?! Love your list!
As much as I love my son and my husband, yes yes travel alone once. One of the very best days of my life was the day I walked from one end of San Francisco to the other alone.
Oh I'm so enjoying this series of posts! Can't wait to see the next post.
BRILLIANT!!!! I cannot wait to read the rest!
NOTE I believe #7 could be ADJUSTED....I go MARRIED at 23, but waited to have children until 29......maybe it's OK to be married earlier, but wait a bit to have children!
great great post. I am slowly learning all of these.
I did get married at 24 but very very luckily I ended up lucking out. I was wreckless and young and somehow got paired with someone who is everything I need and more, I learn that more every day. It's pretty odd that I didn't follow the guildlines but lucked out.
I love the traveling alone one. So very true.
Looking forward to more.
Another one that I reacently had to grasp...do NOT worry about things you cannot change. This one has helped me tons as of late.
just as swet southern prep said...would a 14y/o girl really LISTEN? Doubtful. It sure would be nice though.
Very good advice indeed.
I am loving this idea!!! Thank you for your kind words. Prayers are working! xo
Wow - these are just outstanding Miss Princess, I spent a good bit of time reading all of these. You are amazing.
Big smiles at you,
