Scarf Storage?

Happy Monday Bloggirls! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

When I was in my 20's I worked in an office where we were expected to dress appropriately for our business setting. One day I arrived at my desk and a fabulous French woman I worked with told me how chic I looked. Hm. Had I not looked chic before? What had I done differently to make a French woman take notice and comment? I had worn that same outfit on other occasions, same shoes, same hair cut, same makeup....ahhhhh yes...it was the scarf!

It was a big revelation for me. I didn't grow up with any style mentors so I made it up as I went along...clipped pictures from magazines, consulted TOPH, and tried to copy my favourite TV stars. But a scarf....chic...how simple! My love affair with scarves officially began! Since then I haven't met a scarf I didn't like - every colour, style, size...I love them all! Imagine going from so-so to chic with one swish and a knot! Magnifique!

Have you ever wondered how to get that perfect knot? It is so simple...just remember this:

Left over right and under.
Right over left and under.

Put the scarf around your neck and take the left end over the right end and pull it under and through. Then Take the right end over the left end and pull it under and through. Ta-dah! The perfect scarf knot! Of course there are hundreds of ways to wear scarves but a good basic knot is so handy!

Since my love of scarves knows no bounds I have amassed quite a collection. Too many, some might say but I think I have almost enough. I do have a slight storage problem so I have a challenge for you!

I have a huge drawer full of scarves and I just cant decide how I should store them. I have kept them loose but then they just take up too much room. I have folded them up and put each one is a ziplock bag - this helps keep them dust free but it means I have to steam them anytime I wear one.

I took photos of all of them and I will get them printed and keep a photo album just of scarves in my closet so I can look through them quickly and easily when I am styling my outfits and I would love to know how you store yours!

Have a fabulous day!

I love scarves too! I have two hanging on my coat rack at the office, 'just in case'. At home, well, space is limeted in the closet ;-) so I store them on a little scarf holder that I found at the Container store about 8-years ago! I'll take a picture tonight. It is pretty easy to find them, you can let me know what you think. As for the outerwear scarves, they live in the handbag closet and are in need of organization! (project!)

I noticed on your post at Black Labs and Lilly that you were looking for some think cable tights (I had been as well!). I wanted to let you know that I just found navy, black and grey at Marshalls. I know each one is different, but if they have the thick ones in sunny California (funny!), maybe they will have them in your area! (i hope!)

I too love scarves; but unlike you, I usually suck at tying them. Not any more!! Thank you.

I work in a very conservatie office environment and find that adding a scarf to my suits adds a little something extra!

Scarves are great! I've never owned one, however, as I've always lived in a "hot" climate. (When it is 110 degrees outside, the less layers the better!)

I've always wanted a pink scarf to bop around in.

I actually store mine on a multi-pair pant holder. It normally holds 5 pairs of pants with swing out arms but I can have 5 scarves on one arm. XOXO

scarves can easily make your entire outfit look better! I love your idea about taking pictures of them and flipping fast through them when in need! Mine are just hanging on a hanger :-) Sorry I can't be much help this time :-(

I love scarves. I have more of the long, pashmina style ones so they're all folded in the drawer. I like the pant hanger idea from Gwen.

Great tips!! I have so so many scarves that I buy for super cheap at thrift stores (like a quarter a pop) but never wear them. Just Monday, I got frustrated and took one off. I vow to wear one tomorrow!

Cute blog :)
