My little gardener!

The Little Prince has always loved being in the garden.  He is a Taurus, an earth child...in fact, he was born on Earth Day!  It really comes as no surprise that he loves learning about the plants, getting seeds ready, helping to mow the lawn and watering the flowers.

We are that family - the one going to McDs for salads and apples...and coffee.  The Little Prince doesn't realize there is anything else there as we always go through the drive-through and never see what other people are eating.  It works for us and the Little Prince is a big fan of fruits and veggies as we don't offer him garbage.  That really is the key to getting your children to eat quality foods...don't give them chips when they are 4 months old and let them see you eating proper meals.  If your children see you eating a salad, they will want a salad too. (And yes, I ate lots of Happy Meals when I was a child, but 29 days of the month we had dinner at home, at the table, together).

I was very impressed when the cashier handed me a sheet of carrot seeds compliments of the company - I love that McDs is adding so many healthier options to their menu as it makes it easier for those of us who don't eat junk food to find something to eat in a hurry (or when we are lazy).  The company obviously knows if children grow it they are more likely to eat it!

We got the seeds home and the Little Prince donned his yellow wellies and headed to the veggie patch!  This photo was taken in the spring before anything had grown and we were all pasty white Scottish people.  The Little Prince worked with his daddy to make the holes and plant each seed then made little signs for them so he would be able to identify them once they started growing.

We now have a section of the garden full of carrots...one of which won the Little Prince a 2nd place ribbon at the fall fair!

After a morning of planting seeds and raking the lawns this is how I found the wheelbarrows.

Have a fabulous day!

That is so neat that they offered you a little baggy of seeds! It's crazy to think of all the healthy options available for our little ones that weren't around for us! It's wonderful!

Oh, and? I LOVE those yellow wellies! I can't wait until I can get Baby J some!

I love his yellow gumboots! Such a cheery way to dress for the garden. I hope that those carrots were tasty and that he felt a sense of pride and accomplishment harvesting and eating them.
We always sat around the table for family suppers. I think it helps keep a family in touch and strengthens the bonds of parent and child.
Your wee prince is fortunate in so many ways.
