Last week I dragged my seamstress with me to the fabric store...peppermint mochas are always a great bribe! It was a nice 40 minute drive through the country and we got to catch up and gossip.
I hate shopping...going from store to store trying on hundreds of things to find something that fits and looks good just doesnt do it for me and seems like such a waste of time (there's a reason I buy the same piece in every colour when I find something I like!) but I still like having cute clothes, so I decided I would have a couple of summer dresses made for me!
I picked out 3 madras style fabrics for a skirt and two dresses and two broadcloths for slips! How cute are these colours! The pattern is a simple shift style dress so they will be easy to slip on with some sandles and be out the door for errands, beach walks and anything else I can be cute and casual for.
I will blog the finished pieces when I get them!
Have a fabulous day!

Great fabrics. I'm impressed that you have your own seamstress.
Such a great idea... really wish I were better at sewing clothes! Love your fun summer cotton fabrics
You know, just a few days ago I said I was going to do this because I can often find fabric I LOVE, I don't often find the style or fabric I love. Can't wait to see your finished products.
Popping in for a visit through blogland and my first stop is here... those are gorgeous fabrics... love the colours!!! Can't wait to see your new completed pieces.
I'm so happy that you received your package and that it brought a smile to your day... Happy Pancake day!! xo HHL
Gorgeous fabrics. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
I can't wait to see your dresses! Such great colorful patterns you picked out.
I am waiting impatiently for my first custom made dress. Fingers crossed that it turns out!
Maybe we can trade patterns when they're done :)

It would appear that I am falling behind...so many of you chic and stylish gals have personal dressmakers...will look forward to viewing the newly created frocks!
oh wow -- what a great idea!! such beautiful fabrics and can't wait to see the finished product!
I can't wait to see them, have fun!!!
What a great idea! Alas, I don't know any seamstresses :(
These are going to be very cute! Can't wait to see how they turn out!
Such cute fabric choices, can't wait to see the finished items.
I wish i had a great seamstress that I could call on to make just about anything I liked...better yet I wish I could sew (grade 7 home-ec class doesn`t count for knowing how to sew...)
Did I hear you correctly, you ``hate shopping`` girl, what`s wrong with you! Was there a traumatic shopping experience when you were young! (kidding, I know it`s not for everyone, it can be difficult to find something you love sometimes. That`s why have things made is a great idea!)
I love this idea. I have been saying for YEARS that I was going to do this - myself. Ha! I have endless patterns and enough fabric to open my own shop... Just need some better sewing skills, I suspect. Maybe you have inspired me? Can't wait to see how great you are going to look.
Best,
Colleen
They are going to turn out so cute
I LOVE those colors. How much more bright and cheerful can you get?!
Good afternoon from Tokyo!
What pretty fabrics! I'm sure your dresses will turn out beautifully. Having a friendly seamstress never hurts ;)
One of the reasons why I cannot wait to go to Hong Kong this summer is to visit my husband's tailor Sam, of Sam the Tailor. He made all of his shirts and suits and I'm going to have some dresses and skirts fashioned!
You have certainly made me even more excited about having my own tailor.
Can't wait to see your finished products!!
Warmly,
Elizabeth
Lovely fabric choices--wish I knew of a talented seamstress in my area.
