What will people say about you when you die?

A few weeks ago I was chatting with a friend on the west coast and we got onto the topic of friendships and how people dont put time and energy into their relationships outside of their families.  She said something interesting that made me stop and think...I copied it and have mulled it over a number of times since our conversation....

"I never thought of myself as a person who would have a glamorous career to boast about so that when I died, people would say she was such a great success in her career. I always knew that when I died.. I wanted people to remember me by being a "good" person with wealth in friendships and family."

It has made me stop and think what I want my life to be.  What I would want people to say about me when I die?  In 50 years of course.

Have a fabulous day!

Wonderful post!! This topic really hits close to home for me ~ as one never knows when their learning on this earth will come to a close. Having been given a second chance sort of speaking, has made me stop and think what really is important... FAMILY (blood related, extended family, and family by choice)...xo HHL

I would like people to say "she always listened to people". Listening is such a dying art, and I would like to think I always give people the time by listening to them without feeling the need to always comment or give my opinion.

Very thought provoking post! It definitely gives one food for thought. This is not the first time I have pondered something along these lines and each time those ponderings resulted in my making changes in my life. Vanessa made a good choice. That was one of the changes I made. I have always been considered a great listener, but I wondered if I really was and made a more concerted effort to be just that. A few of the things I would like people to be able to honestly say is that I was a caring and giving person and that I was a genuine person.

I hope you are having a fabulous week!

I'm afraid no one would come to my funeral, so I don't want one. Beyond that, I just hope my children always remember me with love.

My best friend & I always promised that whoever went first, the other would throw a bash to end all bashes. We always agreed that we wanted people to celebrate our lives, not mourn our deaths. Sadly, my friend went first, but I made sure the bash we threw in her honor was fabulous, and it was. Just like her...

This was good and very thought provoking. I would hope that my loved ones and friends would say she was a decent, compassionate, honest mother, wife and friend with integrity and respect for every human being. I would be more than satisfied with that.
Thanks for giving us something to stop and think about. This is a great blog btw.

great post -- it is kind of scary to think about sometimes!!

I know all of us think of you as a great friend and love that you share your life with us!

BREATH....I actually have given this some SERIOUS thought lately. OK, turning 50 is NOT a death sentence, but we have had some very sad funerals to attend recently.

I HOPE at my funeral, I will be recognized as not only GENUINE, but GENEROUS....not MONETARILY!

I try to live my live consistently and am very passionate about helping others before myself.

This is a very thought provoking post and I want to revisit this every so often.

I really liked this post. My prayer is that people will celebrate Christ in me when I die and that they will remember me as someone who was committed to the Lord, and put Him first in all that I do. I don't do this all of the time, which is why I have such a great need for Him!!! If I truly live my life in God's will, then I will be a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend!
