This week Susan Boyle's new album The Gift was released and even though it is mostly Christmas songs, there are a couple of 'everyday' songs on it including her cover of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day'. I have to admit the first thing that came to my mind is the song 'Perfect Day' by Hoku which so many of us know so well (hint...Elle Woods) and I did think that was a verrrry interesting song choice for Susan Boyle...but no, this is another 'Perfect Day' with a whole other sound and feel...
This was filmed in the highlands of Scotland - I actually got a little misty watching it as it makes me think of days I've spent walking through the heather and picnics overlooking dark Scottish lochs. The scenery just goes so well with this song - I half expected to see little faeries flitting about in the woods!
I did a little search and found a video done by the BBC a few years ago featuring 'Perfect Day' and it made me wonder...is this the perfect song?
I love how 'Perfect Day' sounds so good in every genre and sung by so many different voices...David Bowie and Elton John need to record this song! Aren't we about due for another Poques Christmas song? Click here to see the full screen and all of the names.
Have a fabulous day!

I love it when really diverse artists give us their take on an already existing song. It goes to show that a really great song will sound good no matter how you sing it!
