The View From Here!

I was driving home one afternoon and saw a big yellow field!  Of course I had to stop and investigate...

This is a farm on the road between towns...

...with a field full of sunflowers!!  I drove past them this week and the heads are all bowing, heavy with seeds!

I have grown sunflowers in the past and a great way to use the heads is to stack them then run heavy string like jute through them (just like adding beads to a string) then hang them up around your backyard or garden.  All winter long the birds will have seeds they can peck at and in the spring just toss the empty heads in your compost bin.

Have a fabulous day!

So pretty ~ I love sunflowers. They are a great cut flower as they last for such a long time. What a fun tip for our feathered friends.

I'm not sure whether I love you or hate you after making the chocolate gelato. I guess I'll love you for sharing the chocolate goodness until I get on the scale and then I'll have to hate you when I see that I've gain a few pounds :) You were SO right about letting it sit in the frig and really cool. What a difference in consistency. I'll certainly be making this one again ... and again ...

Have a wonderful Sunday ~

Thanks for the tip--I'm going to try sunflowers some day. So many farms around here have them and they're a gorgeous sight when they're pointing upwards!

One time when I was little McDonald's was giving away sunflower seeds to plant. We planted it at my grandma's because we lived in an apartment. there is a picture of me next to it and it grew at LEAST 6 feet high. ;)

That is a good idea - the get very big in the garden, but that's a great way to display them. Okay, I've take word verification off my comment moderation!
