The other day when I was driving home from another city I saw this a few hundreds meters in front of me. Being the nosy type, there was no way I was going to let it go without finding out what it was!
I rumaged through my purse, turned on my camera, zoomed in and snapped a few pics...all while doing 120 down the 401 and never taking my eyes off the road. Please excuse my dirty windshield.
I am baffled by this to be honest...it's a big eagle (I drove up beside it to get a better look) which is a bit of a rarity when it comes to sculpture in Canada. Lately the government has been arguing about that fact that Canada does not have a national bird (I bet I could show them one) and which bird it be if we did have one. Strangely, the words Canada and Goose have not come up in this ever so important debate. This is what happens in a country with a stable economy, health care, great social programs, tremendous housing prices and this year, an early summer...no one has anything to complain about so they start making up problems.
Anyhoooo....as I passed this truck I saw the licence plate said 'Military'...interesting. The eagle plays no part in the Canadian military. I wonder if it was brought up here for repairs - there is a US military base about 3 hours and a border crossing away from here, perhaps that's where it came from.
Have a fabulous day!

It is definately from across the border........maybe they are lending us their national bird until we decide. XO
Sure am glad that poop didn't hit your windshield! :OP
Definitely an interesting mystery. It is a beautiful sculpture.

hmmm quite the mystery... I tend to agree with GWL above - perhaps they are lending it to us until we decide. Maybe someone in the "powers that be in Ottawa" will decide for all Canadians that we should perhaps just share the Bird ... ;)
Strange indeed!
Ha ha, so crazy! Glad you got to snap a picture or two!
Just left you an award on my blog!
That's really funny...and weird!!!
Too funny! Our guys do sometimes get to go train or participate in exercises at various U.S. bases. Maybe someone stole the eagle statue and smuggled it home! But I'm not sure who that'd say more about, our military, or airport security!
This post is funny! Take back all your Canadian Geese. There is sooo much Canadian Goose poop in Colorado.
Totally an american thing...
Our national bird should be the goose, or Loon even (it's on the dollar coin after all!!) And you're right, when things are good we go looking for stuff to debate/argue/spend money on/complain about!
That is so bizarre. Wow. You see the funniest things!

Such a strange sight. I totally take photos flying down the highway of weird things. Giant tires, Massive Yaht Props and even a boy on a motorcycle with a strange tattoo. LOL!! XOXO
