Cats!
Continuing with my trip down memory lane we went to see Cats on Sunday! I saw in in 1985 so yes, I was 14. Seeing it all these years later was fun but I realised just how cheesy it is - I felt like Charlotte the whole time!
On the way home the Suburban Prince and I were talking about it and he was asking what a Jellicle cat is and which parts were written by TS Elliot and which parts were written by Andrew Lloyd Webber....
Suburban Prince: Well, I understand the underlying message...
Suburban Princess: You do? I studied Cats in drama class and I have no idea what the underlying message is!
Suburban Prince: Duh...spay and neuter your pets!
Have a fabulous day!

By the time I got to an age where I could see that, people made fun of people who saw it. :( But, then they played it at the local college a couple of years ago so I went anyhow. I actually liked it!
oh thats the best! LOVE IT!
ROFL! Out of the mouths of babes, huh? That's hilarious.
I remember wanting to see "Cats" on Broadway SO badly, but never did. It was playing during my child-bearing-raising-toddlers days. I do have the music though, and I love it!
;-)
I got to see it in Halifax a few years ago (via my binoculars); and I loved it. I've had the DVD for many years.
I used to be a Mungo Jerri or Rumpleteaser cat; but now I often feel like Grizel (sp??) the Glamor Cat.
LOL.... Gotta love a Man's point of view....
I loved Cats as a kid, and listened to the soundtrack constantly! I love your husbands interpretation of the whole thing! I'm not sure I have a better clue.
That is quite funny! I saw Cats in Boston and London years ago! It is a bit done out now. I remember being shocked that Betty Buckley was the star, because I loved her in Eight is Enough! Do you remember that TV show?
I LOVE T.S. Eliot (& theatre), so it really is a shame that I've never managed to see Cats! Love your blog!
I saw it on Broadway when I was in maybe the 5th grade and loved it. But you're right- I have no idea what the point is. Haha.
New follower here... cute blog!
I have never seen "Cats", but it is on my list!
Meow!
I loved cats when I saw it for the first time in Grade 8...it was my first "real" musical. You're right it is cheesy.. and who the heck knows what the msg is really? Although your hubs thoughts on it are pretty funny!!!
One of my favorite quotes that I use all the time, "It was better than Cats!"
Love your hubby's take on the message! I have tickets to see Cats in August. It seems that over the years for one reason or another I always missed it when it was running. I am looking forward to seeing it but your husband's comment will be running through my head! LOL
