Yesterday I went into Toronto for a doctor's appointment. I see a specialist twice a year for problems I have been having since the Little Prince was born. I thought I was having hormone problems but a year into the process they have decided I need to be tested for Celiac Disease. Because of the tummy troubles I have been having I am not eating much these days which has caused a downward spiral and now my hormones are all out of whack! I fell into the trap so many women do...I stopped putting myself first. There is no way I can continue on this way and I have to get back to taking care of myself before I take care of everyone else. As the Suburban Prince tells me...even on flights they tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself first before assisting other passengers. Someone needs to explain this to the Little Prince because, as you might know, two year olds dont respond well to being told they aren't numero uno!
I kept trying to call the Suburban Prince but I couldn't reach him at home or on his cell phone. Does anyone else find it impossible to get their husband to answer the phone? I was feeling awful and since I couldn't speak to him I decided to speak to his credit card in the ancient language of perfumes. A repeat visit to the Estee Lauder counter found me trying out a new blush and walking away with another bottle of Bronze Goddess!
As luck would have it there is a Crabtree & Evelyn right outside the department store! I never realized how aggressive the SAs are in there! I kept telling the woman I really just came in for one thing but she wanted me to try everything in the store. Finally when I looked like I was getting fed up she let me buy some Nantucket Briar Hydrating Mist.
I have loved this scent for years - I even spray it on the Furry Prince after his baths! Just smelling it in the store made me feel a bit better! I love that it is a very light oil - perfect for the hot months! The Suburban Prince's credit card was taking a minor beating at this point.
I had some time to kill so I went to Starbucks for a latte - did you know they have free wifi?! I knew they had internet but I had no idea it is free! I got myself signed up and checked emails, facebook and a few blogs. I still could not reach the Suburban Prince. Hmpfh!
My next engagement was at the Windsor Arms hotel in Yorkville. It is just a few subway stops and a short walk away from the Eaton Centre so I decided to take the train. It suddenly dawned on me that I have been driving to the city for so many years, I couldn't remember how to take the train! I managed to find an ATM since I never carry cash and needed to buy a ticket, found the station and waited on the platform. Looking around I realised there is a reason I never take the subway! In a sea of black, grey, brown and other depressing colours I stuck out like a sore thumb with my blonde hair, pink coat and sunny disposition!
The reason for this transportation adventure? I had plans to meet with Falling of a High Heeled Life for afternoon tea! Back in March she contacted me because I had blogged about my birthday tea at the Windsor Arms...that same week she had also blogged about the exact same tea! We had never read each other's blogs before this but realized we had a lot in common! We have been chatting every day since then and have been looking forward to meeting in person in one of our favourite places - I had a wonderful afternoon with my new friend.
We chatted for hours about everything! We both said it is nice to spend time with someone who speaks the same language. She was recently in Paris and bought me back a beautiful brown and cream Paris scarf and chocolates! How sweet is that?! Thank you again C!
After tea (which might be the last bread I ever get to eat!) we went over to MoRoCo on Yorkville Avenue. It is a wonderful little chocolate boutique and lounge/bar/tea room. They have so many interesting flavours of chocolates!
We went especially for the macarons which are displayed in beautiful cases. It is hard to choose which ones to try! I brought home some flavours I have never tried before like lime and sea salt! While we were there we ended up talking about a nightclub we both used to go to called Ivory which was just down the street from MoRoCo. There was another club I used to go to call the Catwalk right around the corner from Ivory and we had a laugh when I admitted to falling backwards off an ottoman in there one night. Late one night! We have so many of the same memories, I bet our paths crossed on more than one occassion!
It was getting late so I was dropped off at the train and made my way to my car. I got home after the Little Prince was asleep so I accomplished my goal of an entire day without the terrible twos! I think it is good for the Little Prince to miss his mummy for a day!
Have a fabulous day!

I think I need to buy some of this Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess scent...I've heard such amazing reviews! And the macarons look delish!
What am amazingly fabulous day! Good for you! My Mom has Celiac Disease. It's unfortunate. At least there is a lot more recognition out for it now, that makes it easier for her to find things to eat while we are out.
Sounds like you had an absolutely fabulous day, lucky girl! We all need a little 'me' time every once in awhile (hey, maybe I should start listening to myself-LOL!)
Is it a confirmed diagnosis? I am not very familiar with what it is.
I thought I was the only one who could never seem to get thru to her husband via phone - LOL. Sounds like you had a lovely day, good for you !
Bronze Goddess is my fave summer fragrance! I did a post on it last week :) if you feel like checkin my little blog out!

I also have trouble connecting with my MR HB on his Iphone...frustrating but I accept it, he's a busy architect.
Your day sounds like fun and tea with a fellow blogger too!
My friend was recently diagnosed with Celiac and she has to relearn what she can eat and how to bake all over again..there are cookbooks and online stuff so at least you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Take care of yourself...put yourself up on that throne and relax for awhile Princess!
Your comment "since I couldn't speak to him I decided to speak to his credit card in the ancient language of perfumes." cracked me up! One of my best friends was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a few years ago. Once she changed her eating habits, she felt so much better. Since she loves my cooking and baking, it also provided a new challenge to me to come up with foods (especially desserts) she could eat and enjoy.
It sounds like you had a wonderful and well deserved day!

Sounds like you had such a NICE GIRLIE day! Good for you. Sorry to hear about the diagnosis - is it confirmed? I THINK Kelly Ripa [Regis and Kelly] has it. All I know is SHE IS SKINNY AND IF BEING SKINNY IS THE RESULT....OMG, I"M JEALOUS!!
BUT, seriously, hope you start to feel better soon!
I too had a most wonderful afternoon. You are a wonderful person and I'm very honoured to have you as a new friend. I so agree with SP's comment about the airlines... It is most important that you make some time for yourself! I hear a SPA -weekend calling... lol...
Have a wonderful week-end my dear. C.
It sounds like a fabulous day! Glad you had some quality time by yourself. We mommies need to reenergize like that.
Gracious, what a fabulous day despite the initial appointment! (And The Prince is spot on with the oxygen mask analogy, have to agree with him.) Hopefully physical things will get back to where they need to be.
Love the way you 'spoke to the credit card' since you couldn't converse with the Prince! And the chocolate boutique sounds like a must-stop!
Smiles at you Miss Princess,
tp
Lovely day indeed. Thanks for sharing.
I just bought Bronze Goddess last week and I love it! I just close my eyes and pretend I am laying out on the beach...ahhhhh.....the only thing better would be if I could have used your hubs credit crad to buy mine too :OP
A day without the terrible twos...boy does that sound heavenly.
