With friends like this....

Last year my friend H knew I was looking for part-time daycare for the Little Prince.

She has her daughter in a private, in-home daycare so she asked J (the daycare lady) if there might be a spot for the Little Prince.

J said there was only room for one more child on a part time basis so we went to meet her, liked her and started sending the Little Prince to her daycare.  It took a long time for him to warm up and start participating but he has come out of his shell quite a bit over the last few months and we have been very happy with our decision to put him in daycare and have him around other children.

Yesterday when I dropped him off, J told me she feels awful but she has to let the Little Prince and another child go because she will be at capacity with full-time children by the end of this month.

Great.

I found out the new parent is someone H knows.  I spoke to H and she ended up telling me she doesnt actually know this new person but met her once at a playgroup somewhere and was giving out J's information to anyone who asked.

So now because H sent everyone she has ever met to J for daycare there are 2 children who have lost their part time spots!!!

I notice H's child still has her part-time spot!  I also notice H has not pulled her child out of daycare to save another child from being bumped out!

So now we need to find somewhere else and put the Little Prince through the whole adjustment process again.  Not impressed.

***Update*** I called a nursery school down the road from our house and they are meeting us on Monday morning so we can see the place and meet the teachers etc.  Hopefully we like it - the teacher was very specific that it is not a daycare, it is a nursery school so that impressed me.  Wish me luck!

Have a fabulous day!  Hopefully my mood will improve and I will have a cheerful post later today.

Oh that's super tough. All I can say is maybe there's a reason God doesn't want you in that daycare. Still it will be hard for everyone to adjust and find something different.

Also, I'm hosting a giveaway on my blog right now!

That stinks! Years ago a similar situation happened to me with private swim lessons....I actually forgot about it until I read this post. Don't waste energy on H, instead focus on Little Prince and what is best for him! Good Luck.

I am so sorry that you have to go through that. I hope you find another arrangement soon.

Good luck!

Oh my dear! I am so sorry... I remember having that happen to me with a babysitter and feeling awful, not to mention stuck. I learned a lesson that I remember to this day - I never offer my best resources except to those that are worthy. And you will absolutely find a royal situation for LP!

So sorry to hear this, but God can use all of life's transitions to help equip us, so both you and the Little Prince will ultimately benefit. Keep positive and don't settle. Take your time finding what is best for your little guy.

North of 25A - ITA! I NEVER give out names of good sitters etc and one would think H might know that. It will be interesting to see if her own stupidity gets her own child bumped out!

It really does suck that you have been placed in this situation, and we can look at the glass half empty or half full - take the high road and look at as an opportunity ... by her actions -she thought she was helping out the daycare lady and I'm sure the kick back for her is that she was securing her little one a part-time - spot. What she neglected to think through is how her selfishness would affect others and her friendship with them ((mainly You)- so on that oversight or not, on she has lost a good person as a friend - You! - but she has presented you with the opportunity to discover an even better Daycare for LP and also an opportunity for you meet new people (possibly future friends) you may not otherwise have met. I know I am not the one faced with the challenge of the task to find a new Daycare - but... I know you are a great person and mom - so don't waste your energy on this H person - Karma will take care of that in time - focus your energy on finding the opportunity(ies) in this challenge. Cheers,
C.

Good luck with touring the nursery school on Monday. Fingers crossed, this will be an even better spot for the Little Prince.

I'm sorry. Finding good childcare is so hard and I agree that the adjustment period is really tough on kids. What a pain!!

I hope something works out for you soon.

I will pray you find the right placement for the Little Prince. I recall all too well how hard it can be to find the right place for my boys and the adjustment periods.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Back in the day when I was raising my own kids, that (what H did) would have caused social suicide. Babysitters & daycare are as non-negotiable as any situation gets. It's similar to the old rule about dating your best friends ex. No-no. However, in her defense, perhaps she didn't realize the consequences of her actions.

So, are you saying LP is in Pre-School? Where I live, you had to get on pre-school lists when you found out you were preggers. Otherwise, you'd never get in.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you've had to deal with the stress from this situation. Cheer up! Things can change in a heartbeat.

It's so hard to deal with shifts in childcare. Good luck with your preschool. Oh I do remember those days.
