Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend!
On Saturday night the Bestie came over for dinner and a movie. We decided to watch Casablanca since it was on the movie channel under 'Oscar Winners'. It is my absolute favourite movie of all time so I was happy to watch it again!
The movie poster.
Casablanca takes place in the 1940's and tells the story of Rick and Ilsa and her husband. You cant go wrong with unrequited love with WWII as a backdrop!
Rick's Cafe Americain
Steamy romance between Rick and Ilsa but my sensibilities are always slightly offended when she tells him he will have to do the thinking for all of them!
I commented in a previous post that Casablanca is nothing like in the movie - well the movie was filmed in Hollywood!
In 2003 we went to Morocco and one of our stops was Casablanca - there is really nothing touristy there as it is a business centre as opposed to a tourist site but there is the most amazing mosque one could ever hope to see!
Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca - it sits right on the ocean, holds 25,000 people inside and there is room for 80,000 outside. When I was walking around the outside of the mosque a pigeon pooped on me. I am told this is supposed to be very lucky and the Moroccans told me it was extra lucky because it happened at the Mosque.

One of the most powerful moments of my time in Morocco was standing in the Hassan II mosque looking out at the ocean crashing up on the shore. While standing there in my socks, surrounded by the cool, dark marble, watching the power of mother nature, it was easy to understand why this location was chosen.
Have a fabulous day!

I saw the movie once, but I never really got onboard with it like so many others did. There were parts I loved and parts that made me never want to watch it again. I think I may have to give it a second chance. I am, however, super jealous of your trip there. The photos are gorgeous!
My all time favorite movie!! What a fun girls night!
I haven't seen this movie in forever. I must watch it again soon!
Like many classics, I have never seen the whole thing start to finish, but will one of these days.
Love that movie. And I like that you got something positive out of being pooped on!!
I love that movie also. I'll have to watch it again soon. Maybe it will be on at the Alabama Theatre this summer. I love to watch it on the big screen.
